What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back on later requests. Local storage is a related mechanism that keeps data on your device but, unlike a cookie, is never automatically transmitted anywhere. This site relies mainly on the second kind, which is why so little leaves your machine.

None of these are used for analytics, profiling or advertising. Removing them costs you nothing but the preference itself.
What third parties set
Advertising cookies
This site may show advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. Advertising cookies are also used to limit how often you see the same ad, to detect invalid traffic and to measure how ads perform.
These cookies come from the advertising partners' own domains rather than ours, so we cannot list them individually or control how long they last.
Where the law requires it — including in the EU and UK — a consent message is shown before any non-essential advertising cookie is set, and your choice there is respected.
Google Fonts and Cloudflare cdnjs
Typefaces load from Google's font service, and a few browser-side PDF tools load their processing libraries from the public cdnjs network. These serve static files and are not used to set advertising cookies, but each necessarily receives your IP address in order to deliver the file.
How to control cookies
- Advertising specifically. Turn off personalised ads at Google Ad Settings, or use the industry opt-outs at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.
- In your browser. Every major browser can block or delete cookies and site data, in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge alike, usually under privacy or site-data settings. Most also offer a setting to block third-party cookies entirely.
- Clearing this site's storage resets your theme, favourites and recent list. No tool stops working.
Blocking cookies from this site does not prevent the tools from functioning. Blocking advertising cookies reduces how targeted the advertisements are, not how many appear.
